Understand the Fear of the LORD (Part 3)

When we search for God's wisdom like buried treasure, then we find the correct respect and knowledge of God.

"My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;  Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;  If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;  Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God."

Proverbs 2:1-5

Part 3

Yesterday:
The second condition for gleaning the fear of the LORD and getting the knowledge of God is “crying after knowledge.”

The third condition is “seeking her as silver,” like looking for hidden treasure.

Today:
(Proverbs 2:5) Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.

With the three conditions met (in verses 1-4, “ifs”), the believer is well on his way to understanding the fear of the LORD (“then” in v. 5).

“Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD,”
Because of his diligence in searching the Word of God, the man or woman of God is beginning to understand valuable truth about God.  The only way this knowledge will come to be is by logging time in the Word.  Not by casual reading, but by earnest digging in the Word.

God’s holiness will be seen, and He will be appreciated for who and what He is.  His power and sovereignty will be magnified.  And the diligent miner of truth will strive to live a life for the glory of the LORD.

“And find the knowledge of God.”
The most important thing in all the world is to get to know God, our Creator.  Your eternity depends upon it.

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent,” (John 17:3).

Do you know God, and have you met His Son?  Are you living for His glory?  Is God the most important person in your life?  Do you understand that your life is all about Him?  If you have answered any of these questions in the negative, you need to keep seeking Him in His Word.
