There are No Other Gods!

"It's not what you know, but Who you know that's important."  Do you know this great God?

"For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods."

Psalm 96:4

The psalmist borrowed these wonderful words from the author of 1 Chronicles.1

“For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods,” (1 Chronicles 16:25).

Here is what the Scriptures say about our God.

“For the LORD is great,”

“There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God,” (1 Samuel 2:2).

“For thou, LORD, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods,” (Psalm 97:9).

“Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,” (Isaiah 46:9).

“Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.  Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee,” (Jeremiah 10:6-7).

“And greatly to be praised:”

I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies,” (2 Samuel 22:4).

“From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’S name is to be praised,” (Psalm 113:3).

“He is to be feared above all gods.”

“He is to be reverenced and adored above all that are called gods.  Higher honor is to be given him; more lofty praise is to be ascribed to him.  He is Ruler over all the earth, and has a claim to universal praise.”2

God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him,” (Psalm 89:7).

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.  For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil,” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14).”

“For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods,” (Psalm 95:1).

Amen!
