"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou has sent."
John 17:3
Part 4
Previously:
– We can see that God is the “only true God.”
– We can see that there is no one else like God, He is unique.
– We can see that God transcends heaven and earth, and time and space.
Today: Our God Has Provided for Our Salvation
– We can see that God is the Savior, the only Savior from sin.
As we have seen earlier that Satan confused humanity on the issue of which God to worship. He also has conned humankind into thinking that there are many ways to heaven. Nothing could be further from the truth. Although this is considered a very narrow viewpoint and not popular today, we must understand what the Bible says about this unique Savior.
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time” (1 Timothy 2:5-6).
There is only “one true God,” and He has chosen His only begotten Son to be the Mediator between God and men. There is no other. And it is this Jesus who has “given himself a ransom for all.” It is Jesus that God has given us, the perfect sacrifice to pay for the sin of the world on the cross at Calvary.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
The apostle Paul equates God and Christ Jesus as humanity’s Savior.
“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Savior, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope” (1 Timothy 1:1).
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior” (1 Timothy 2:3).
“For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe” (1 Timothy 4:10).
Just as God is the “only true God,” Jesus Christ is the only Savior from sin.
“Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by Him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at naught of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:10-12).
Without this salvation provided by the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, no one can get to heaven.
The gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is inclusive; anyone may come to be saved.
“And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Acts 2:21).
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).
The gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is exclusive; He is the only way of salvation.
“I am the door: by me, if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture” (John 10:9).
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).
Without Jesus Christ, there is no way to God, no forgiveness of sins, or any salvation. He is “the way.”
Dear friend, if you are sincerely trying to find the way to heaven and realize you are seeking heaven the wrong way by reading what the Scripture teaches. Please, turn to the Lord Jesus Christ. Ask Him to forgive your sin and save your soul. His life was the only sinless and pure life on this earth. His sacrifice for sin is the only one that God the father recognizes. His name is the only name that saves. Would you please give your heart and life to the Lord Jesus Christ? And don’t wait!
Come back tomorrow, and we will see in the Scriptures that the Lord Jesus Christ is God! See you then.
Quote: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed” (Romans 10:9-11).
