The Righteous Heart, and the Wicked Mouth (Part 2)

A good man will think through his reply with caution.  The fool gushes out his answer.

"The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things."

Proverbs 15:28

Part 2

Yesterday:
“The heart of the righteous studieth to answer:”
The good man thinks before he answers.

Today:
“But the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.”
Who is this wicked man?  The Hebrew word “wicked” is the word that means, this person is a “wicked, criminal.”  He is a “guilty one, one guilty of crime.”  He is “wicked” in the sense that he is “hostile to God.”  And he is “wicked, guilty of sin,” “against God or man.”1

What does this man say?  Any cutting, cursing, malicious, sarcastic, atrocious, mean spirited thing he wants to say!  Because his mouth “pours out evil things.”  This is what the wicked man does.  Long ago, I realized that we ought to expect sinners to act like sinners, and their despicable evil should not surprise us.  “But for the grace of God, there go I!”

Although some do, sinners do not need to study “wickedness” to do it.  It just comes naturally to them.

There is hope!
The only hope for a wicked man is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  It alone has the power to change the human heart.  Good works, religious ceremony, and all the money in the world can’t buy salvation.  It is only available through Jesus.  He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).

Jesus said that He is the only “way” to God.  Though man may try, he will never get to God without going through Jesus.  This means that all the religions that neglect to bow the knee to Jesus Christ are false religions, and their leaders are false teachers.

Jesus also is the “truth.”  “All truth is God’s truth,” and no one gets to Him unless they believe His truth about His Son, Jesus.  The truth is that we are all sinners and Jesus alone, died to pay our sin debt.  He solely provides our salvation.

He said that He is the “life.”  Jesus is the Creator.  He is the originator of all life.  Life is His, and eternal life only comes from Him.  His gift of salvation gives us eternal life.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:16-17).

If you are reading this today and you realize that you are a sinner, a wicked man, with no hope of saving yourself or changing your evil way, if you desire eternal life, then there is hope for you!  It is by simple faith in Jesus’ sacrifice in your place, He died for you, that you may ask Him to be your Savior.
