"Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he."
Isaiah 41:4
Part 2
Yesterday:
“Who hath wrought and done it?”
“Calling the generations from the beginning?”
Who made man and set up the nations of the earth? The question is laid out for examination.
Today:
The contest continues. Who is God? The idols of the heathen, or Jehovah?
“I the LORD,”
Here’s the “who,” it was “I the LORD,” Jehovah. “I am the Creator!”
“The first, and with the last; I am he.”
“‘The first,’ before there was any other creature, I was here, in existence before anything else.”
“‘With the last,’ I am still here, unchanging, unchangeable, eternal God. I am he.” Nothing was before God, and nothing and no one will outlast Him. He is eternal!
“Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last, and beside me, there is no God” (Isaiah 44:6).
“Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last” (Isaiah 48:12).
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last” (Revelation 22:13).
Conclusion of the debate:
There is no God but Jehovah! He is the infinite, eternally sovereign God who made us, and He has governed the world from the beginning and will continue to do so until the end of time. He is the One that we believers are dependent upon. He is loving and gracious, and He cares for us even in the worst of times. We can trust Him to meet our needs.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness” (Isaiah 41:10).
“For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee” (Isaiah 41:13).
