Our Risen Lord Works in Us (Part 5 of 5)

The same God that raised up Jesus from the dead is the same One who will enable you to do His will.

April 30, 2021

"Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen."

Hebrews 13:20-21

Part 5

Yesterday:  Jesus Equips Believers to do His Will
“Make you perfect in every good work to do His will.”

Jesus said, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5).

Today:  We Live to Bring Glory to Christ

Our Risen Lord,
“Working in you.”

How He works…perfectly, in judgment, truth, and righteousness:

“Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.  He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all His ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He” (Deuteronomy 32:3-4).

Where He works… in me![1]

The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth forever: forsake not the works of thine own hands” (Psalm 138:8).

“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13).

“Whatever good we do, God does in us”[2] (JFB).

Our risen Lord works in us,
“That which is well-pleasing in his sight.”

Our goal in our service to the Lord:

But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased” (Hebrews 13:16).

“Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well-pleasing unto the Lord” (Colossians 3:20).

“And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight” (1 John 3:22).

We strive to please our Lord Jesus by our lives.  We aim to glorify and praise His name.

We, believers, succeed only,
“Through Jesus Christ.”

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him” (Colossians 3:17).

To our risen Lord and our Savior,
“To whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.”

For our salvation and our lives, “to God be the glory!”

“Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be glory forever and ever. Amen” (Galatians 1:3).

“Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen” (1 Timothy 1:17).

To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen” (1 Peter 5:11).

“Now unto Him, that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen” (Jude 1:24-25).

Quote:

All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
All my being’s ransomed pow’rs,
all my thoughts and words and doings,
all my days and all my hours.

Let my hands perform his bidding,
let my feet run in his ways;
let my eyes see Jesus only,
let my lips speak forth his praise.[3]
