"The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace."
Psalm 29:11
David has written this 29th Psalm, praising Jehovah for His greatness and power. Why not take a moment to read this short psalm before you continue reading?
This is a great psalm to read during stormy weather. If storms cause you to worry or fear, this will be of comfort to you.
When it’s stormy, we have the opportunity to hear the Lord speak in the storm:
His voice is in the thunder over the waters, v. 3.
His voice is powerful and majestic, v. 4.
His voice can break the magnificent cedars of Lebanon, v. 5.
His voice divides the lightening, v 7.
His voice shakes the wilderness, v. 8.
His voice makes the deer give birth, and strips the forest, v. 9.
After hearing the Lord’s voice, and seeing His hand move in the storm, we can surely “give the LORD glory and strength, and the glory due to His name! (vv. 1-2).
The storm floods are the LORD’s throne. He is the eternal King! (v. 10).
And now our verse for today:
“The LORD will give strength unto his people;”
Seeing the power and incredible strength of the typhoon, once it is past and the calm returns, we are grateful to know that this kind of power is available to God’s child. “He will give strength to His people.” From the One who sends the lightning from the heavens and rattles the earth with His thunder, comes the strength that His people need. Believer, He will give you strength! When you are weak and needy, look to Him!
“The LORD will bless his people with peace.”
The One who controls nature, even the comings and goings of the storms, He “will bless His people with peace.” No wonder He is the “Prince of Peace.” Without Him, there is no true peace. And when He says, “peace be still” there is nothing but peace! Do you know Him?
To know the Lord is to know peace. But if you do not know Him, you have no peace.
Dear reader, if you have not already, won’t you bow your knee to this mighty LORD today?
Dear Lord, thank you for showing us Your might in the storm, and then making your power available to us, and thank you for your peace!
