I Will Pour Water (Part 3)

God has blessings in abundant supply for His children.

May 10, 2019

"For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:  And they shall spring up among the grass, as willows by the water courses."

Isaiah 44:3-4

Part 3

Yesterday:
“I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:”
Israel will come to her Messiah and be saved. Her seed will be blessed as well.

Today:
“And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.”
God’s Spirit gives life, like the willows that flourish near rivers and grass that covers the well-watered plains.  This is how Israel’s “seed” shall spring up under God’s blessing.

Eventually, Israel will give up her sin, turn to her God, and be blessed by God’s Spirit.  Prophetically, these things will happen to Israel before the millennium begins.

Believers, today God has graciously given us the Holy Spirit to indwell and empower us.  When we sin and disobey God, and do not walk with Him, His Spirit is grieved, and we live powerless lives.  We may think that we are alright living this way when in reality, we are miserable and weak creatures, living helpless, dried up lives.

Are you living by the strength He supplies, or are you living in your own inadequate “power?”  Confess your sin, return to Him.  Keep short sin accounts with God.  Pray for His power and filling in your life.

“Who receives this gift?  I will pour water on him who is thirsty.  When we are thirsty for the outpouring of the Spirit, ask for it and receive it in faith, we can expect to be poured on.  God is looking for dry ground to pour out floods upon!”1

Showers of Blessings2
By Daniel Whittle

There shall be showers of blessing:
This is the promise of love;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
Sent from the Savior above.

Refrain:
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

There shall be showers of blessing,
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys,
Sound of abundance of rain.

There shall be showers of blessing;
Send them upon us, O Lord;
Grant to us now a refreshing,
Come, and now honor Thy Word.

There shall be showers of blessing:
Oh, that today they might fall,
Now as to God we’re confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call!

There shall be showers of blessing,
If we but trust and obey;
There shall be seasons refreshing,
If we let God have His way.
