"In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me."
Psalm 56:4
“In God, I will praise his word,”
In God, or through God am I able to praise. There is nothing and no one, more worthy of my praise than God and His Word. I can know about the God I praise by reading His Word, for it tells me of Him and His love for His creatures. In His Word He reveals Himself to me, helping me to understand who He is and what He has done for me. His Word teaches me of my sin and rebellion against Him. His Word shows me of His goodness to His lost creatures, in sending His Son to save us. It instructs me that I in no way deserve the love and blessings of God, but He in His love and grace has stooped down to redeem me, saving me from my sin. Dear Lord God, thank you for your mercy, and thank you for your Word!
“In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word,” (Psalm 56:10).
“In God, I have put my trust;”
Walking with the LORD, I have learned that I can always trust Him! He is always there to protect His child.
“I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust,” (Psalm 91:2).
God never forgets His child. He is there for us.
“The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him,” (Nahum 1:7).
God’s child is always ready to give praise to Him. We glory in Him!
“The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory,” (Psalm 64:10).
“I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.”
Because I have put my trust in the Lord and I worship Him, I need never fear people.
“Faith exercised, fear is banished, and holy triumph ensues, so that the soul asks, ‘What can flesh do unto me?’ What indeed? He can do me no real injury; all his malice shall be overruled for my good,”1 (Spurgeon).
For the believer, our faith in God is a way of life.
“…as it is written, The just shall live by faith,” (Romans 1:17b).
