He Works in Believers

God is known by His people.  Let’s work to make Him known among the nations.

"In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.  In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion."

Psalm 76:1-2

While it is true that God is present everywhere at the same time (He is omnipresent), He has made Himself known in some places, to some people in a more significant way than to others.

“In Judah is God known:”
Judah was the southern kingdom of the nation of Israel.  God made Himself known there to His people.  They were privileged to see Him work in them.

“His name is great in Israel.”
Israel was the northern kingdom of the nation of Israel.  God’s name is great there, and He made Himself known to His children there through a special event when He saved the lives of His children.  Some believe this is a reference to God destroying the Assyrian army of 185,000 soldiers overnight and sparing His people.  At the end of that night was when the Assyrian army “woke up dead” (2 Kings 19:35; see also Isaiah 37:1-28).

“In Salem also is his tabernacle,”
Jerusalem, the city of peace, was where Jehovah made His dwelling.  His tabernacle was there.  His people knew Him there.

“And his dwelling place in Zion.”
Zion, the city of God is where His Temple was.  This is where His people worshipped Him and offered their offerings to Him.  In this place, God made Himself known to His people.

God made His residence with His people.  They were His chosen ones, His special children, the “apple of His eye” (Deuteronomy 32:10).

Today, we believers are His special people.

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy,” (1 Peter 2:9-10).

As His peculiar people, He works in us and through us.  He has us here in this world as His testimony.  Our job is to point this world to Jesus Christ.  He has given us His Word, His truth, let’s share it with the lost around us.
