"And God hath both raised up the Lord and will also raise up us by His own power."
1 Corinthians 6:14
Part 3
Yesterday: God’s Power in Resurrecting Jesus
“And God hath both raised up the Lord.”
Christ’s resurrection from the dead was God’s doing.
Today: God’s Power to Raise Believers from the Dead
“And will also raise up us.”
He will raise His believers again!
What a blessed thought! Even death cannot defeat God’s power. The child of God who has gone on to be with the Lord through death will be raised up again! Here is Jesus’ promise.
“And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which He hath given me I should lose nothing but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of Him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:39-40).
“No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:44).
“Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:54).
Jesus taught us that,
He will never lose any of the sheep God gives to Him.
He will give eternal life to everyone that “believes in Him.”
The Father draws lost souls to Jesus.
Those who partake of Christ, believing in Him, have eternal life.
Jesus will raise believers from the dead in the last days.
“But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you” (Romans 8:11).
God’s Spirit will give us resurrection life. How?
“By his own power.”
The Creator of the heavens and the earth is the one who gave us life. By His power, He created everything from nothing. It will not be a difficult thing for Him to raise us from the dead.
“Knowing that He which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you” (2 Corinthians 4:14).
We need to remember Jesus’ words,
“I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living” (Matthew 22:32).
The two resurrections:
“Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation” (John 5:28-29).
When Jesus came to Bethany to see his friends Martha and Mary. Their brother Lazarus was dead and in his grave. Jesus gave these words of comfort to Martha.
“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?” (John 11:25-26).
What glorious words Jesus gives to His child! Believers, take comfort. Jesus will raise you again from the dead, that you may live with Him eternally.
Quote: “No matter how devastating our struggles, disappointments, and troubles are, they are only temporary. No matter what happens to you, no matter the depth of tragedy or pain you face, no matter how death stalks you and your loved ones, the Resurrection promises you a future of immeasurable good” [1] (Josh McDowell).
