Two Resurrections Coming (Part 1 of 2)

Which resurrection will you face? Will it be an eternity with the Lord? Or without Him?

"And many of them that slept in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt."

Daniel 12:2

Part 1

“And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake.”
Daniel, Old Testament prophet, believed in the resurrection.  He knew that both Saints and sinners will come out of their graves someday.  The grammar of this ancient writing keeps verse 1 and verse 2 connected.  Note Daniel’s accuracy in these end-time events.

“And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book” (Daniel 12:1).

And then after that, “and many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake.”  The Word of God plainly teaches two resurrections, one for the believers and one for the lost.

“But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets: And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust” (Acts 24:14-15).

“Some to everlasting life.”
The general resurrection for believers is before the millennium.

“And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.  But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished.  This is the first resurrection.  Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ and shall reign with him a thousand years” (Revelation 20:4-6).

But what is the other resurrection?  Who will it involve?  And what does it mean?  Come back tomorrow and let’s discuss it.
