"Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth."
Job 12:15
Part 2
Yesterday:
“Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up:”
Today:
“Also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.”
Not only does the LORD control whether it rains or not, but He also controls how much rain there is. As seen in our verse, He also sends the floods. The great flood came in Noah’s day.
“In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened,” (Genesis 7:11).
He sent His decree to destroy life from off of His earth with a great universal flood. After His judgment, God promised that He will never again judge the earth by a flood (Genesis 8:21-22; 9:8-15). While the planet has many local floods, there has never been another worldwide flood since Noah.
God turned King Ahab’s water off for three and a half years, and when He turned it back on it was a deluge! (1 Kings 18).
God is good, and He gives His water where He wills.
“Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields,” (Job 5:10).
“Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder,” (Job 38:25).
“He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers,” (Psalm 78:16).
“He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold? He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow,” (Psalm 147:17-18).
If our sovereign God can control an enormous problem like watering the earth, don’t you think He can help you with your issues that look so big, but to Him are so small? To God, our difficulties are easier than turning on and off the water. He is all-powerful! Have you asked Him for help?
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host;
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Amen.1
